Windows You might have seen in the movies; a USB drive is inserted into a computer and it immediately springs to life. It is not difficult, you can use an application PREDATOR for exactly same thing. Predator locks your system when you are not there, even if your Windows session is still opened. It uses a regular USB flash drive as an access control device. Download and install Predator, and pair a USB drive with it. With the USB drive plugged in, you can continue to work, but as soon as it is removed, the screen darkens, the PC locks, and keyboard/mouse input is disabled. Plug it back in, and normal usage is restored.
Security Features In Predator:
- Predator disables the CD Autorun feature in Windows.

- You set a password that will unlock your session when your key(Pen Drive) is not available.
- An Alarm start when someone enter wrong password.
- It records all events in a log file, you will know if intruders have tried to use your PCs.
- It frequently changes the security codes recorded on your USB drive.
Install And Configure Predator:
- First download Predator from here. And install it.
- After installation launch it from desktop shortcut icon.
- A window will open to set up password and request for USB flash drive insertion, click OK.
- Now you are on Preference window, configure all settings and create a Key.
- Click OK to save you settings.
Now restart Predator to monitor your system. This is quite useful for me and may be useful for you also. For any query or help please drop comments. Your comments help us.

Superb blog post, I have book marked this internet site so ideally I’ll see much more on this subject in the foreseeable future!
Wouldn’t you be able to bypass the entire thing by taking the drive out and slaving it to another boot device like Mini XP or a linux live cd?
In my experience ANY security can be bypassed by doing that.
Yes, linux live CD can do it, but you can put an master password on the BIOS so the boot order can’t be changed.
That’s nice and all but is there another way to get back into the system if the USB flash drive fails/dies or gets lost or stolen?
yes, you have a password to unlock your system, it is created at the time of predator installation.
Great site. A lot of useful information here. I’m sending it to some friends!
thanks ricky for your appreciation
